An Update...
The new master suite and renovations to handicap-equip the former master bedroom have been
completed. We are so glad to have been able to help this family and are grateful to the
many vendors, subcontractors and private individuals who assisted us in this endeavor. Please

Hamlin Construction
Dear Friends:
At Hamlin Construction, we realize we are not just in business for our own benefit, but
that we are here for the good of our customers and the good of our community. We feel it
is our responsibility and privilege to share our good fortune with a family we have identified
as both needing and deserving of help. We would like to invite you to join
our efforts to improve their lives in a small way.
We have known this family personally for a number of years, and have watched them demonstrate
love, character, and hard work, as they struggle to care for three children--the oldest
of whom is severely mentally and physically handicapped, requiring constant care, which
they elected to provide at home. Just to give you an idea of their situation, this child
was on oxygen until recently, and at the age of 13 cannot talk, walk, or swallow, requiring
nourishment through a feeding tube.
Maintaining their oldest daughter's health requires an incredible commitment by the entire
family, care that has been undertaken with sacrificial love and without complaint. The younger
siblings in this family (a 9-year old boy and a preteen girl) share a bedroom and their
mother has developed physical problems from the heavy lifting and maneuvering involved in
bathing her oldest child. And, while both spouses work and they do receive some assistance
from charitable organizations for physical therapy and respite care, they struggle financially
because of their decision to keep their disabled child at home with them, instead of abandoning
her to a government institution.
Therefore, we have discovered a way to help this family. Homes by Hamlin has undertaken
a home improvement project to turn
their master suite into a bedroom with specially handicap-equipped facilities for their
daughter, freeing up her bedroom for one of the other children. This project also involves
the construction of a room addition to serve as the new master suite for the parents. It
is our hopes that this couple--as well as their children--can finally have a home environment
that supports their special situation.
Homes by Hamlin has offered our services free of charge.
We are excited about this opportunity to show love and support to this family and would
like to share this opportunity with you. If your organization would like to help us by donating
building materials, or labor, to this project, please contact Pete Hamlin at 770-948-5496,
or via email. Thanks!
Sincerely,
Pete and Jennifer Hamlin |
